Keeping in mind the future of students, it was decided to conduct final year exams -UGC

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said on Monday that the University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to hold the final year examinations keeping in mind the future of the students.

He said during a conversation with the Vice Chancellors of various universities that this decision was taken keeping in mind the future of the students. This was done so that the students do not face any problem in future. Universities have been given the option to conduct examinations online, offline or through a mixed medium of both. The minister said that the new education policy would strengthen India’s position as a leader on a global scale.
He said that we have to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) to 50 percent by 2035. This is a major target, which means enrollment of 3.5 crore more students. He said that the National Education Policy 2020 is the foundation of nation building. I request you to plan how the research can be improved. We have always supported the autonomy of universities. We are looking at how to make 45,000 degree colleges better and give them autonomy. Currently, there are only 8,000 colleges that are autonomous, but will be extended in a phased manner.
Let us tell you that on July 6, the UGC issued the guidelines related to the examination and asked the universities to conduct the final year, final semester examination online, offline or in a mixed form of these by the end of September. However, a number of petitions were filed in the Supreme Court challenging the guidelines and seeking cancellation of the final year examination.
