Election Commission of India released detailed guidelines for elections and bypolls keeping the global pandemic in mind.

With the coronavirus pandemic continuing and Assembly Elections and bypolls due, the Election Commission on Friday came out with detailed guidelines to be followed during the conduct of polls. The guidelines state that candidates can file nominations online. Further, all those involved in election-related activities will have to mandatorily wear face masks. The ECI has also extended the option of postal ballot facility to the electors who are marked as 'persons with disabilities', people above the age of 80 years, people employed in notified essential services and those who are COVID-19 positive/possibly infected. Read More

India’s first coronavirus vaccine 'COVAXIN' could be available by end of 2020

Even as scientists and drug makers all over the world race against time to find a safe vaccine against the novel coronavirus disease, Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, told an English daily that India’s first indigenously developed COVID-19 vaccine, COVAXIN, could be available by the end of this year.
